Following a successful meeting with the Speaker of the Rwandan Parliament, the Liberian delegation was taken on a guided tour of the Genocide Memorial of Rwanda, a tourist destination in deed. The team was also taken to the Museum of the Campaign Against Genocide based at the Parliament. At the end of the tour and discussion, the group posed for a photo with the Speaker ( a lady in red) at the foot of the memorial statute. The experience speaks volume. My impression about Rwanda is that, though war has an ugly side, it offers some possitivities for principled-minded people. For instance, the people of this country ( about 1/4 Liberia's size and a population of 12 million- 3 times that of Liberia ) have been able to change their miseries into fortune. It's wonderful being in Rwanda. It is a success story for Africa and the world that will last with me for ever.
